KELLEY PARK CLOSED UNTIL SUNDAY AM

KELLEY PARK CLOSED UNTIL SUNDAY AM; "HOPE FOR CHILDREN" RESCHEDULED
After consultation with Ballston Spa Police Chief Dave Bush and DPW Working Supervisor Scott Kerns, I have required that Kelley Park be closed from tonight (Thursday, 5/8/25) starting at Dusk, not to be reopened until at least Sunday morning at Sunrise (depending on the conditions).
Currently, the Creek is at a high level that, with 2-3" of additional rain, will likely risk a flood condition inside Kelley Park. In addition, the turf is already very soft throughout Kelley Park, creating risks to the turf and to anyone who might need a rescue deep into the Park. Out of an abundance of caution, we will be closing the Park with this advance notice to help residents prepare for their weekend plans.
In addition, the "Hope for Children" event that was to be presented by our Ballston Spa Events Task Force is being postponed from this Saturday until the following Saturday (now, 5/17/25 from 11am-1pm in Kelley Park). Thank you to the Task Force for working with us in shifting the event out of abundance of caution for everyone involved.
When the gates are closed in front of Kelley Park, you are not permitted inside the Park and may be removed by authorities. Please respect this closure, as this is about your safety and the safety of our First Responders who would have to perform a potential rescue for those who violate this closure. We will review conditions Sunday morning and let you know if we are able to reopen the Park at that time.
Thank you for your patience and understanding.
